Did you know that friction is NOT a force?
Friction is there everyday in our lives. It helped you right now for you to visit and read this blog. Friction is a force (not really) which opposes all objects, irrelevant of their state of motion. It's because all objects (including the Hubble Space Telescope) have irregularities. So when another object (with irregularities) slides, rolls or is static on another one, the irregularities lock together, thus slowing or arresting the act of the force applied. So it looks a bit like this-
So it's a bit like folding and locking your fingers...
Interesting, isn't it?
We can say now that this everyday phenomenon is actually not a force but actually a very common thing which need not be explained so briefly...
So who said friction is a force?
Stranger than friction-
As we know that this is a completely new but true fact, some people may just have a bit of an improvement, suggestion or correction, and that could be you!

Stranger than friction-
- What if friction was so hard that even lifting your leg of the ground was a heroic feat! Guinness book of world records- The longest time taken to skid and walk!
- What if friction didn't even exist. This time in the Guinness book of world records- Longest time someone has even stood up on fours (forget walking).
